Blakestown Community School prides itself on its commitment to providing extra curricular activities including FAIS soccer. The school is affiliated to the FAI and every academic year affords all students an opportunity to demonstrate their footballing skills at juvenile (u14), intermediate (u16) and senior (u19)levels.
The school regularly participates in the Dublin metropolitan leagues and Leinster Umbro Schools Cups. Our greatest achievement on the soccer pitch to date was winning the All –Ireland u14 cup in 2000. Since then many trophies and awards have been presented to our school with several players now playing cross channel in the English and Scottish leagues.
The school has a dedicated and committed staff of teachers who coach, manage and encourage all pupils to participate in the FAI’s leagues and cups. Students not only gain valuable physical exercise but also participate in teams which allows for the overall development of the student. Selection to the school teams is based not only on footballing skills but also on commitment, dedication and general attitude to succeeding in school. Students eagerly await the commencement of each season and compete for places through trials at the start of each year.
